A Tribe Called Quest-Old School Wedsenday

Tribe Called Quest with the cross colors and houser days for me. One of the funky and bouncing hip-hop groups of all time. I didn't see much but heard a lot of. I remember them on In Living Color as well as many artist.

With Q-Tip (Kamal Fareed), rapper Phife Dawg (Malik Taylor), and DJ/producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad. A fourth member, rapper Jarobi White.

A Tribe Called Quest was formed in 1988, though both Q-Tip (b. Jonathan Davis) and Phife (b. Malik Taylor) had grown up together in Queens. Q-Tip met DJ Ali Shaheed Muhammad while at high school and, after being named by the Jungle Brothers (who attended the same school), the trio began performing. A Tribe Called Quest's recording debut came in August 1989, when their single, "Description of a Fool," appeared on a tiny area label (though Q-Tip had previously guested on several tracks from De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising and later appeared on Deee-Lite's "Groove Is in the Heart").

Signed to Jive Records by 1989, A Tribe Called Quest released their first album, People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, one year later. Much like De La Soul, Tribe looked more to jazz as well as '70s rock for their sample base -- "Can I Kick It?" plundered Lou Reed's classic "Walk on the Wild Side" and made it viable in a hip-hop context. No matter how solid their debut was, second album The Low End Theory outdid all expectations and has held up as perhaps the best hip-hop LP of all time.

Without question the most intelligent, artistic Hip-Hop group during the 1990s, A Tribe Called Quest jump-started and perfected the hip-hop alternative to hardcore and
gangsta rap. In essence, they abandoned the macho posturing rap music had been constructed upon, and focused instead on abstract philosophy and message tracks. The "sucka MC" theme had never been completely ignored in hip-hop, but Tribe confronted numerous black issues -- date rape, use of the word nigger, the trials and tribulations of the rap industry -- all of which overpowered the occasional game of the dozens.

Bo Jackson! Where you at now?

You on Point Phife?

I like black, puerto rican and mexican. Than Haitian

Can I Kick? Yes you Can.

N.W.A- Gangster Rap Comes in. Old School Wed

N.W.A Stands for Niggaz With Attitude.
The FEDS hated Fuck The Police of Straight Outta Compton. They said it will create hate towards the police.
Core members were Ice Cube, Dr Dre, Eazy-E, MC Ren and DJ Yella AKA Yellow Boy. The forgotten members Arabian Prince, Krazy Dee, and The D.O.C.
Get It Right!! Where's Yella?

N.W.A What can I say than fuck, bitch, hole and pussy. One of the many artist I was listening to while a kid. Thanks Cuz.

I remember getting forced to be at church and once awake from my nap in church, telling myself it's only 2 episodes of cartoons. The time period of church to help me threw. Little should have known. Once out pop in that tape "Hey Mister Dope Man your Think you slick, selling drugs to my sister now she's sick, If she happens to die i stick it in your culo with a 38. slug" Dopeman then get hit, whipped and ears pulled.

Dr Dre left and formed Death Row Records to become a legend on the beats. Introduced us to Snoop, Eminem, The Game and 50.
Easy-E died from AIDS introduced us to Bone Thugs.
MC Ren has moved on and helps with Public Enemy's recording schedules guesting on some of their tracks.
MC Yella now directs and stars in porn films.
Ice Cube left the crew after wrongful contracts. Had beef with N.W.A did "No Vaseline" for N.W.A. Went to Priority Records doing some dope as tracks repping South Central. Became a movie star.

Here's some video's of the crew including the diss.

One Day As a Lion

I am hella stoked that Zack de la Rocha has a new thing going on. He's playing vocals and keyboard, while Jon Theodore on the drums. It's a perfect sound. The time era is perfect. Recession, war, revolution and history. Rage was revolutionary! I will never forget the democratic convention in 2000. Tear gas, rubber bullets and Rage.

ALBUM OUT NOW!!

About One Day As A Lion.

“One Day As A Lion is both a warning delivered and a promise kept.”

“A defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It’s a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask. One Day As A Lion is a recorded interaction between Zack de la Rocha and Jon Theodore from Los Angeles, California.”

“The name taken from the infamous 1970 black and white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: ‘It’s better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.’ This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound.”
