Treasure Fingers – Cross The Dancefloor (Designer Drugs Remix)

The latest producers to put their spin on Treasure Fingers’ irresistibly funky Fool’s Gold debut “Cross The Dancefloor” are NYC’s Designer Drugs. They stay faithful to the original track’s melody while injecting it with a massive bass line and a garage-y break beat all their own. Get ready for the rewinds!

Sacheen Littlefeather

As you know we are getting closer to Thanksgiving. It's about the Native Americans. I came across Sacheen Littlefeather. She goes under Hollywood History. For bringing awareness about the Injustice, mockery, and humiliation. The Natives were not being properly acknowledged.

Sacheen Littlefeather walked up the stage during the Oscars to accept Marlon Brando’s award to only to reject it.

Sacheen Littlefeather (born Maria Cruz on 30 January 1947 in Salinas, California, U.S.) is an activist who donned Apache dress and explained on behalf of actor Marlon Brando when he would not arrive to claim the Oscar he had won for his performance in The Godfather in a prepared statement at the Academy Awards on March 27, 1973.
Marlon Brando became involved with the American Indian Movement (AIM) in the early 1970s. He decided in 1973 that he wanted to make a statement about the events at Wounded Knee and contacted AIM about providing a person to accept the Oscar for him. Dennis Banks and Russell Means picked Maria Cruz. She had previously been the winner of the 1970 Miss American Vampire competition.

She represented Brando and his boycotting of the Best Actor Oscar for The Godfather (1972), as a way to protest the ongoing siege at Wounded Knee and Hollywood and television’s misrepresentation of American Indians. Brando had written a fifteen-page speech to be given at the awards by Cruz, but when the producer met her backstage, he threatened to physically remove her or have her arrested if she spoke on stage for more than 45 seconds. Her comments on stage were improvised. She then went backstage and read the entire speech to the press. Exactly what became of the Oscar still remains unknown.
Afterward, she began a brief acting career. Cruz has a heritage that includes Apache, Yaqui, Pueblo, and European ancestry.

Currently, Sacheen is the co-ordinator of the Kateri Prayer Circle in San Francisco and resides in the San Rafael, California area.

Animated Music Videos

I been browsing looking at videos and recently stumbled across the new Kanye, Common and Gnarls. They happen to have graphics, illustration, and animation. I love art. It's dope to see this. All 3 artist have albums coming out in the next 2 weeks. Hear Kanyes pain, Gnarls soul, and Commons metaphors.

Common-Universal Mind Control is a dope video. I draw robots and clowns. I am on the robot tip. His video is some Robot Funk.

Kanye's Heartless video is well on point on it's designs. The movements, body language and feeling. You hear pain and see stress. It's dope as well Mr Hype Williams video legend and movie maker.

Heartless from kwest on Vimeo.

Gnarls Barkley Mystery Man is funny. It goes well with the song. Cee-lo's voice and Danger Mouse notes is a dynamic force of creativity. The animation and story telling makes it great.

Kaws Does Kanye Album Art

Kanye West is an artist in every sense of the word. He’s talented, cocky, insecure, and brilliant. This unique fusion can often times cause confusion and a wave of cynicism towards the man’s naturally born talents. After a successful third album to seal the deal of his school themed trio audio journey, it looks as if Mr. West is all grown up now as he embarks on a new terrain of experimental sounds that reminds me at least of how house music sounded like back in the early ’90s. Kanye practically sings in every track, granted his voice is filtered to resemble T-Pain; the man however has a unique vision. Kanye is in a place that is the envy of many artists, he has the ability to recreate himself over and over again and he has the loyal fan base that equally expects him to shape shift and transform. His new album, “808s & Hearbreak” is set to release late November. Of course out goes his flashy Jeremy Scott frames and his loud patent lanvin kicks and in is his subdued tieless door-to-door salesman attire capped with his fabric broken heart mended over his, well, heart. His album art was commissioned by Kaws, another artist who’s subtle commentary on consumerism and capitalism stands on an unsteady platform not yet quite defined as Kaws himself is thriving in wealth and fame from consumers of his work who appreciate his critique. But then again, I suppose this is what art is all about in the end, no?

Santogold – Shove It (Switch Remix)

By opting for some more crystalline hi-hats and
a soupier kick sound, Switch has kept Santogold’s track
“Shove It”—one of the dubbier cuts from her
album—at a turtle-crawl pace, drawing the island vibes out even more
but never dulling her (or Naeem’s, of Spank Rock-fame)
performance.

Mos
Def
– Life In Marvelous Times

A little under a month ago, we premiered Mos Def’s
killer new single “Life In Marvelous Times”, but now we finally
have it available for download. Taken from his pending Downtown debut,

The Ecstatic—the track features a pretty thumping crescendo of
synths from producer Mr. Flash and really seems even more pertinent since
our election.

Cazals
– Life Is Boring (Crookers Zuppa del Cazal Mix)

Cazals is a gritty garage band that
plays scuzzy guitars with cigarette packs rolled up their sleeves. But
leave it to beat scientists The Crookers—who rocked a remix of
Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Nite”—to
deconstruct the rock track “Life Is Boring,” with colossal
house beats and deafening drum/bass. This remix will pound you out of bed
and tease you all day, bass thumping at your conscience.

LA's own Jane's Addiction will be playing in their original form this Thursday at the relatively tiny venue, El Cid, in Silverlake. The show serves as an apology to fans and family who were unable to attend their packed gig at La Cita in downtown LA last month.

Tickets will be available at the door, but plan on getting there extra early to ensure a good spot. Stay tuned for a potential Fall tour possibly in the works.
